Fall at the Cottage

As you can see, the leaves are not really changing this year as they have before at this time.

Interesting how the beach is getting wider every day this fall!!!

Peace and quiet await you!!!!!!!

Inside The Barber's Cottage....

This is the well equipped kitchen.

So lovely to eat overlooking the water!!!

Screens to go around the bathroom area for those inclined to privacy.

Another bedroom/bathroom view. What you can't see is the futon behind the camera person and the t.v on the little dresser filled with vhs tapes for those rainy afternoons!!!!

The Views from the Porch

When you step out of the door of the cottage and look straight ahead, you are looking at this lovely vacant lot next door to the north. Very quiet and peaceful. The hammock hangs here and as you lay there, you get a great view of the lake!!!!

From the porch looking left, you see lovely Lake Bernard. In this picture you get a glimpse of the row boat and canoe. The two kayaks are behind the cottage along with the bike.

Looking left you will see the lane way that the cottage is located on. There are only ten properties on the lane and we are second from the end so there is very little traffic. Beyond the lane way is the railroad track. There are generally two trains a day. One around 9:30 at night and the other about 5ish in the morning.

The cottage has the feel of being way out in nature but in reality, it is just a short distance to a general store, grocery store or even town. Sundridge offers a lovely downtown area with a couple of really good restaurants. Come and enjoy Sunny Sundridge!!!!!!

Gorgeous Fall Days at the Cottage....

Just got back from a couple of days at the cottage. It is so beautiful and quiet. The bush lot beside us gives this cottage a lovely privacy wall from the next cottage. Sitting on the porch there is no one beside you. It is such a treat to be there.

The fall colours are starting with the gorgeous reds. Such a wonderful time of year to visit The Barber's Cottage. Only a few weeks left until it is put away until next spring!!!!

The Joys of a Hammock....

There is nothing as relaxing as in a hammock. This one is fresh from Mexico, very comfortable and waiting for you!!! When you lay in it with your head on the right, you can see the lake between your feet. A few gentle swings and you will be off into dreamland!!!

We have reduced our nightly rate this year to $100 for one or two. We want as many people as possible to come and experience some time at The Barber's Cottage. Shallow clear water, fishing, barbeque, fire pit, bikes, canoe and row boat can all be yours for the time you spend at the cottage. We are working on a tv/vhs/cd combo for showing movies on only - coming soon.

We have some availability for the summer months so give me a call at 705 636-1679 or email me at vassheekey@bell.net to see if we can't get you here for a relaxing stay in sunny Sundridge!!!!

Indian Summer....

Lovely fall leaves floating in the lake.

It won't be long before we will be draining the water and packing up the cottage for this year. If you want to spend some quiet lake time at the cottage, act fast. We will open it up again in May. We already have some reservations for next year so if you are planning on coming back or for your first stay please book early so you won't be disappointed.

You can see the sandy bottom and the shallowness of our shoreline.

One tree, many colours!!!

The Good Weather Continues into Late August.....

The hanging baskets were well looked after this summer by our guests!!! Thank you, well done!!!

The grape vines and hops are making their way up the new trellis. I'm thinking of adding a roof for them next summer but we may be a year or two early!!! The deck tends to be well shaded in the afternoons and is great place to sit and relax looking out over the water.

We spent last week at the cottage and again got to see the full moon shining on the lake. Hope you can get the feel of wonder from this pic.

We trimmed some of the shore bushes to give us more of an unobstructed view but the trick is, to leave enough to deter the water foul from coming to visit the cottage!!! Please remember not to feed the ducks etc. They have lots to eat in their natural environment.

Although the end of August is looming, it isn't too late to spend some time at The Barber's Cottage. Book it today. It is a lovely spot!!!
